About us
Meet The Maker
Hello, I wanted to introduce myself.
My name is Claire, Habiba is my middle, African name. I decided to call the business Habiba’s Roots because my African name is where my life began & because I’d always dreamed of being a Silversmith &/or Florist, growing up. The meaning of, Habiba is; beloved. I felt the name, Beloved Roots fit the business perfectly.
Life took me in a different direction and I became a teacher, working with young adults, helping them to improve their wellbeing and gain employment. I went on from teaching to become a Horticultural Therapist, but after having my Son in 2020 (lockdown new Mama here), I became “burnt out.” My mental health began to suffer & I needed a change.
So, I went back to my roots & decided to go for what I’d dreamed of as a child! Not only do I work with metals & flowers, I’m also entrusted with your most precious possessions – your loved ones. It gives me such a sense of fulfilment to be able to continue to help people with my work.
Thank you so much for your trust in getting this small business off the ground. Doing this for you not only gives a huge sense of pride and honour. It also allows me to satisfy my creative side and enables me to work from home and be with my Son. As a single parent, I’m so grateful for that. I wouldn’t be where I am today without your trust and support.
All my love, from South Yorkshire!
(Claire) Habiba
